Myths and Facts About Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is the best thing that should be given by the mother to her infant's birth until the child is 2 years old. Early initiation process is useful to draw a mother with her infant newborn and assist the mother's womb muscle contraction had just given birth.

Over it all, breast milk is the best nutrition for infants because it contains a complete and essential nutrition for the baby. These nutrients serve to support the growth process of the child and keep them from disease that often affect young children.

But behind it all, there are several myths associated with breastfeeding. This myth was never scientifically proven truth, therefore nursing mothers should not worry and continue breastfeeding with passion.

1. Myth: Breastfeeding will come naturally.

"Breastfeeding is natural and normal, but it does not mean it's easy," said the international lactation consultant, Krista Gray, as reported by Fox News website on Monday (30/3).

Key so that you can do is to get the support of the local breastfeeding support group or a lactation consultant.

2. Myth: Newborns are too tired to eat.

Many women think that is normal for a baby to sleep for hours the first few days after they were born. It is true that babies are born without an epidural will be maintained for 2 to 3 hours and then sleep for 8 hours, but do not forget that the baby somehow still need to eat. Do you have an epidural or not, your baby should be eating every 1 to 3 hours or 8 to 12 times breastfeeding within 24 hours.
